Rhode Island Minimum Wage Increase effective
March 1, 2006!
Rhode Island General Assembly pushed HB6718
through the House & Senate increasing the Minimum Wage for Rhode Island
workers…
After failure to approve two minimum wage
bills in 2005, the Rhode Island House introduced a revised Minimum Wage bill
(HB6718) increasing the minimum wage from $6.75 to $7.10 effective on March
1, 2006 and then to $7.40 per hour effective on January 1, 2007.

New Illinois Required Posting for Day & Temporary
Labor Service Agencies…
Revisions to the Illinois
“Day & Temporary Labor Services Act requires new posting.
Revisions to the Illinois "Day and Temporary
Labor Services Act" (820ILCS175) require a new notice to be posted in every
agency location in the public access area. Posting is required in English or
any other language generally understood in the locale of the agency.
Penalties for violations of any of the provisions of this Act can result in
civil penalties of up to $6,000 during the first audit.
North Carolina Wage & Hour Act Revised…
The North Carolina General Assembly approved
HB768 revising the North Carolina Wage and Hour Act. This law revised the
notification requirements for changes to employee wages and any deductions
from employee wages. Revisions also include “Right-to-Work” laws and the
“Employment Discrimination” laws. Other changes include text changes to the
NC OSH posting, “Safety & Health Protection on the Job. In addition, the NC
Department of Labor has discontinued providing the Unemployment Insurance
posting. Now, the NC Employment Security Commission, in charge of this
posting, provides this poster after establishing liability

Posting
of OSHA Summary Log 300A Required February 1st through April 30th
TIP: OSHA is
stepping up recordkeeping enforcement due to a policy set by the
Occupational Safety Health Review Commission (OSHC). OSHA Directive
CPL 02-00-135 states that an unadjusted penalty for not posting will be
$1,000.

Federal USERRA Notice
Revision Effective 12/2005!
On December 19, 2005, the U.S. Department of Labor announced new regulations
interpreting and clarifying the laws protecting employment and reemployment
rights and benefits of service members upon their return to civilian life.
These final regulations updated the USERRA Notice to
Employees.
