President Bush signed into law SB2486, The Veterans Benefits Improvement Act of 2004 amending the USERRA Act. This amendment requires all employers, private and public, to provide a written notice of rights, benefits and obligations concerning those who have served, are serving or may serve in the Uniformed Services (military).
Posting this notice conspicuously where notices to employees are usually posted will fulfill the new notice requirements. Failure to comply with the USERRA provisions can result in penalties, fines, lost wages/benefits and attorneys fees.
