Questions to ask before you buy
- Are the posters researched, designed, manufactured and shipped in house? If so, this assures you there will be someone you can contact for accountability.
- Do you have a physical business address not operating out of your home or P.O. Box that appears to be an address such as a Mail Boxes Etc. address? Most dot.com companies and home-based poster suppliers are virtual companies with no support.
- Do you have an infrastructure to handle large and multiple locations? Companies without this ability can cause delay in your shipment, order confusion, difficulty in tracking your shipments, invoicing problems - all of which ultimately cost you money.
- How long have you been in business? Check a companys Better Business Bureau Report to verify the facts at BBB online.
- Do you have a City Business License? Companies without a City Business License are not recognized as a real company.
- Does your company have a Disclaimer I can review? Read the ad carefully! Although some companies offer Guarantees, some nullify that Guarantee with a Disclaimer. The disclaimer often states that the company is not responsible for the accuracy of the poster content or for the posting compliance requirements. These Disclaimers are frequently well hidden at the bottom of the page on the websites.
- Will a Compliance Certificate protection plan protect my company from fines should I get fined? Always read the fine print! Companies that offer these protection plans often promise they will automatically send you new posters as the laws change for no extra charge. To determine if this is a good value for your company divide the cost of the subscription by the number of years they guarantee to replace the posters. You will find they are generally charging you one and one half times the price you could purchase the replacement poster for if you chose to wait to purchase a poster each of those three years when the law changes. And what about the years when there is no change in your state? Do they refund the money for that poster?
We will be writing more about this in the future. If you have any questions about our questions, please email patty@complianceposter.com

UNIFORMED SERVICES EMPLOYMENT AND REEMPLOYMENT RIGHTS ACT
The amendment to the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act requires all employers to provide a written notice of rights, benefits and obligations concerning those who have served, are serving or may serve in the Uniformed Services (military).
This notice also applies to Reserve and National Guard forces serving around the world. Approximately 39% of those serving in Iraq are Reservists or National Guard. These men and women will be returning to their homes and the jobs they left behind. The USERRA law protects their jobs and rights.
It is important for all employers to post this posting where all employees may view it in order to protect companies from possible violations of the USERRA Act.
Our 8-1/2 x 14 color poster is laminated to protect from possible damage. The poster contains the required information as prescribed by law:
- Reemployment Rights
- Right to Be Free From Discrimination and Retaliation
- Health Insurance Protection
- Enforcement

HAVE YOU SET-UP TRAINING FOR YOUR SUPERVISORS YET?
Californias AB1825 requires all California employers to provide sexual harassment training for supervisors. Prepare your company for the January 1, 2006 deadline for training to prevent costly lawsuits in your company!
Californias anti-harassment law has been amended to require that all employers with 50 or more employees provide at least 2 hours of training in the prevention of sexual harassment to all supervisors. However, the law firm of Scott & Whitehead recommends that all employers, regardless of size, provide this invaluable training to all of their supervisors. This investment in prevention will prove invaluable if it prevents even one employees claim of harassment.
To assist you in complying with this new legal mandate, Compliance Poster Company has arranged to provide two training options.
- Training for all small groups of up to 30 people will be presented in a location selected by Compliance Poster Company. Training materials will be provided as well as certificates of completion. This is ideal for a company with 10 or fewer supervisors.
Cost is $95 per attendee
- For companies with more than 10 supervisors, in-house training at your company is probably the best option. Our deluxe package includes:
- A legal review of your companys harassment policies and procedures;
- Customization of all training materials to reflect your company guidelines;
- Preparation of an introductory speech for President/CEO of the company;
and
- Two hours of interactive training that meets the laws requirements.
Cost is $2,000.
One or both of the following trainers will provide the training sessions:
R. Craig Scott, Attorney at Law, one of the top labor and employment attorneys in California.
Stewart Lerner, Trainer/Management Consultant and co-author with R. Craig Scott, of the 2005 edition of Sexual Harassment: Training and Investigations for California Employers.
Remember every supervisor employed as of July 1, 2005, must receive training before January 1, 2006. Every supervisor employed at any time on or after July 1, 2005 must receive training within six months of becoming a supervisor.
