FEDERAL FORM I-9 UPDATED!
On June 21, 2005, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that they have updated the Employment Eligibility Verification Form (Form I-9) to eliminate outdated references to the former Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and its parent agency, the Department of Justice.
Every employer must complete the I-9 Form for each employee at the time of employment regardless of nationality. These forms should be kept in each employee's personnel file
Do not file Form I-9 with U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or USCIS. Form I-9 must be kept by the employer either for three years after the date of hire or for one year after employment is terminated, whichever is later. The form must be available for inspection by the authorized U.S. Government officials (e.g., ICE, Department of Labor).
Aside from replacing outdated references to the Department of Justice and the former INS with references to DHS and its components, the current edition of Form I-9 is the same as the 11/21/91 edition. The edition date on the new Form I-9 reads " (Rev. 05/31/05)Y ". Employers may meet their employment verification requirements under the law by completing a Form I-9 that has an edition date of “(Rev. 5/31/05)Y”, “(Rev. 05/31/05)N ”, or “(Rev. 11/21/91)N ” in the lower right corner of the form.
NOTE : In 2001, the list of acceptable documents was revised. The USCIS has not yet revised this portion of the I-9 Form. CPC provided this information in an insert beginning in 2001 on its HR Forms CD.
The DHS is currently in the process of making substantive changes to the Form I-9 in connection with previous rulemakings and plans to introduce a new Form I-9 at the end of this process.

Sexual Harassment Training
SEMINAR & VIDEO Training
July 1 st – It's Here!
Every SUPERVISOR on your payroll must be trained by January 1 st , 2006
With signing AB1825 into law in October of 2004, it amends the CA
Government Code to read:
§12950.1. (a) By January 1, 2006, an employer having 50 or more employees shall provide at least two hours of classroom or other effective interactive training and education regarding sexual harassment to all supervisory employees who are employed as of July 1, 2005, and to all new supervisory employees within six months of their assumption of a supervisory position. Any employer who has provided this training and education to a supervisory employee after January 1, 2003, is not required to provide training and education by the January 1, 2006, deadline. After January 1, 2006, each employer covered by this section shall provide sexual harassment training and education to each supervisory employee once every two years. The training and education required by this section shall include information and practical guidance regarding the federal and state statutory provisions concerning the prohibition against and the prevention and correction of sexual harassment and the remedies available to victims of sexual harassment in employment. The training and education shall also include practical examples aimed at instructing supervisors in the prevention of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation, and shall be presented by trainers or educators with knowledge and expertise in the prevention of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation .
Sexual Harassment can be devastating in the workplace! Federal and State laws prohibit sexual harassment and ignoring this subject can leave your company open to liability.
You need to protect yourself and your company from allegations of “Sexual Harassment”. If one of your employees gets mad and goes to the Department of Labor or California 's Department of Fair Employment and Housing and files a complaint, the government agency is going to ask:
What's in your employee handbook?
Are the required labor law posters posted?
Have you trained your SUPERVISORS as mandated by California law?
To assist you in the protection of your company, CPC is offering “Interactive Seminars” and other training tools. Don't take that risk…you need to act soon!
Sexual Harassment INTERACTIVE Seminars
